Ingredients

  • You’ll need a crockpot liner or ziplock bag
  • 2 lbs. Chicken thighs or chicken breast
  • 1 lb. Italian sausage (I used Butcherbox)
  • 2 Bell Peppers, sliced
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 3-5 Garlic cloved, minced
  • 1 25 oz. Jar marinera sauce
  • 1 28 oz. Can Crushed tomato
  • Seasonings: Oregano, basil, salt & pepper
  • On the day of serving Pasta, Zucchini noodles, spaghetti squash or spinach

Place a disposable crockpot liner in a bowl slightly smaller than your crockpot.

Heat a large skillet to medium heat and add small amount of cooking fat, such as coconut oil. Brown the sausage on all sides over medium to medium low heat.

Transfer the sausage and all prepared ingredients to the bag. Secure the bag and freeze until the day you plan to cook the chicken cacciatore.

On the day of cooking cooking place the liner in the crockpot and cook on low heat. If possible, stir every few hours.
